Selected Designers to Showcase Their Spring/Summer 2013 Collection in the Ghana Fashion and Design Week

One of the most awaited events this year – The Ghana Fashion & Design Week – is all set to showcase some of the most popular designer clothing on the ramp from 5th October to 7th October, 2012. The principal sponsor for the event to be held in Accra is BlackBerry.

There is a lot of media stir at the moment – both local and international – about this much-anticipated event. This is coupled with high interest coming from the buyers. They are anxiously waiting to see an exciting collection of top creative designers. During the GFDW event, there will also be a PopUp Exhibition Salon styled in a contemporary manner.

The Ghana Fashion and Design Week is being headed by some of the most renowned international celebrities, such as the famous make-up artist Claire De-Graft, and the well-known hairstylist Bianca Simone Scott. Both of these will lead the team of GFDW to create the most exciting looks for the show.

There is a huge list of top contemporary designers along with aspiring fresh talent in the industry. The GFDW will serve as a great platform for all these promising designers to showcase their work to a global audience for the first time in Ghana.

While this exciting catwalk will be held over two days – from 5th to 6th October – a number of other events are scheduled during these days. These primarily include educational seminars and trade exhibitions. These will be held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. On October 7, there will be an invite only VIP event sponsored by MOET & CHANDON.

Besides the wide range of activities during the GFDW, some of the selected designers will have an opportunity to become part of the GFDW PopUp Showroom. Here, these designers will be able to show their collection exclusively to the buyers and the press.

The seminar will be led by some of the top names in the fashion design industry. The new as well as established designers will benefit largely from this as industry experts will share their invaluable knowledge and skills with the catwalk designers. This will help them with their development of existing and future creative business practices.

The Ghana Fashion and Design Week is an event that is first of its kind. There will be a launch of GFDW ETHIKHA at this event. It is essentially an ethical fashion platform that will provide the designers with immense exposure and a chance to bring awareness to their efforts.

There is a huge guest list for the event, including media, buyers, industry bloggers, celebrities, students and fashion enthusiasts from all over the world. While BlackBerry is the principal sponsor for the event, some of the other sponsors include L’Oreal, Porsche, Virgin Atlantic, Vogue Italia, New African Woman, Africa Style Daily and a number of other international press companies.
