Miss Nigeria Ghana is a prestigious beauty pageant that is aimed towards projecting a new image of Nigeria in Ghana. It is an excellent way of promoting the rich cultural heritage and diversity of Nigeria. The event is not just a source of entertainment in the region but also serves as a tool to unify relations between Nigeria and Ghana.
Young and beautiful Nigerian ladies of 18 years and more will join together to be a part of this exclusive platform where they can show their talent. The event is specifically organized for students and youth living or studying in Ghana. This year’s beauty pageant will take place on October 26 and 100 Nigerian girls carrying Ghana domicile will be a part of this event.
Miss Nigeria Ghana is organized by Delight Communications and this event will take place at the la Palm Royal Beach in Accra. All preparations are going according to the schedule so far.
The participants are very excited about the pageant not only because of the fame it will bring to them but they are also looking forward to exciting prizes. The winner shall be awarded with a brand new car, a Rolex watch worth $6,000 and a sponsored campaign for breast cancer awareness in the region. This campaign will take the winning lady to all ten regions f Ghana where she can show her appreciation.
There are more than a million Nigerians residing in Ghana so this beauty pageant is also a great opportunity for business owners who wish to tap this market.
This year’s pageant is slightly different from others as it is aimed towards ‘re-branding Nigeria through beauty’.
According to Bola Olalere, CEO of Delight Communications: “We are looking at using this platform to debunk the notion that Nigerians are bad people. Each contestant will portray the values of the states they will be representing. It will not be a nine-day wonder; we are hoping to take it to greater heights in subsequent editions. We have over 25,000 youthful Nigerians, with a large portion forming the female population, in Ghana, so I believe we will make strides.”
The application forms are available at the Accra Mall Shopping Centre as well as campuses throughout the country. The price for each form is GH¢34.
There is a huge guest list for the event, including the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland and Peoples Democratic Party’s National Women Leader, Dr. Kema Chikwe.
The glamorous night will have even more entertainment provided by several artists from both Ghana and Nigeria. Tickets will be on sale from September 1, 2012.
